Ed Sheeran’s ‘Divide’ Tour Has Officially Made More Money Than Any Other Tour, Ever

Written by on 4 Αυγούστου 2019

Everyone’s favourite British gingernut crooner Ed Sheeran has just smashed a record previously held by U2, with his Divide world tour officially becoming the highest grossing of all time.
According to Pollstar, the international stadium lap, which saw ya boi play Australia back in March of 2018, raked in a gratuitous £608.2 million (that’s $AU1.08 BILLION for those playing at home).
Prior to that, U2 held the crown for the highest grossing tour of all time, with their 360 Tour earning £607 million.

Yep, somewhere Bono is weeping into the mountain of crisp $100 bills he uses as a pillow.

“I just found out the Divide Tour is set to be the highest-grossing tour of all time — this is amazing,” Ed wrote on social media.
“I feel very lucky to have experienced all of the wonderful countries and crowds over the past two and a half years. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made it possible.”
While Ed’s manager, Stuart Camp added (via News Corp): “I thought we might have a shot at having the highest attendance record but not the highest-grossing tour.
“’I don’t think there’s much of a coincidence that my favourite band growing up was U2.
“I’m not putting us at that level because they’ve obviously maintained they’re career for much longer, but to even be in the same ballpark as them or spoken in the same sentence with a touring act like that is very humbling.”
Meanwhile, Sheero the hero still has ten more sold out shows to perform before his monster touring run ends later this month.
