Jorja Smith Softly Kills ‘Like A Version’ With A Fugees Cover

English pop, RnB artist, Jorja Smith has performed a jazzed up, soulful cover of Fugee’s ‘Killing Me Softly With His Song’ for triple j’s Like a Version segment.
The Grammy-nominated artist took to the triple j studios with a flowered up mic stand and her band to perform the 1996 hit song.
Her rendition fell somewhere between the original and Roberta Flack’s beloved version, but with a touch more funk and groove.

She also performed her original, ‘The One’, the performance rang true to the original.
The artist was recently in Australia for a few Laneway Festival dates, but had to miss three of her scheduled appearances in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Fremantle to attend the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in LA.
Laneway Festival’s organisers said, “Jorja has (deservedly) been nominated for a Grammy Award in the prestigious Best New Artist category and will be attending the awards, which clash with the second weekend of the Laneway Festival’s national run.”
