‘Old Town Road’ Is Now The Longest Running #1 In US Chart History
Written by A on 30 Ιουλίου 2019
Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus have done the truly unthinkable – ‘Old Town Road’ now holds the record for the longest running #1 song in American chart history.
Clocking in its 17th week at the top spot on the Billboard charts, the smash hit song has now outdone previous record holders, Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s ‘Despacito’ and Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men’s ‘One Sweet Day’.
Lil Nas X took to Twitter to document the huge milestone, decrying, “YEEE TF HAWWW”.

“This song has changed my life… and the way I see the world around me … in less than a year,” he added in a later, longer post.
Billy Ray Cyrus also took to social media, writing, “From the time I started a band my goal was to make music heard around the world that would touch people’s lives.”
“Congratulations my friend @LilNasX,” he added. “You sir are what ya call a ‘game changer’. Love ya man. You are a light.”
As for Australia, ‘Old Town Road’ held a total of 13 weeks at the top spot on the ARIA Charts – briefly dethroned by Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber’s ‘I Don’t Care – but it has since fallen to number two, being overtaken by Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello’s ‘Señorita’.
