Police Issue Drug Warning To Listen Out Sydney Punters, Following Defqon.1 Deaths

Written by on 27 Σεπτεμβρίου 2018

Police have issued a stern drug warning to anyone heading to Listen Out festival in Sydney this weekend, following the deaths of two people at the city’s Defqon.1 festival earlier this month.
Over 35,000 people are expected to attend Listen Out in Sydney’s Centennial Parklands on Saturday, 29th September, before the event heads to Brisbane on Sunday.
In a statement, New South Wales Police Commissioner Michael Fuller APM used a strange analogy to urge festival-goers to party safely.
“Anyone thinking of taking drugs, consider this,” he said. “You wouldn’t drink backyard chemicals, why would you swallow them in pill form?
“We know drug use is claiming young lives, don’t roll that dice.”
NSW Police said they will have a “strong presence” at the festival in Sydney, “as part of ongoing efforts to save lives and disrupt illegal drug dealers”.
Police said their operation will include drug-detection dogs, undercover operatives, the Mounted Unit, Licensing Police and Police Transport Command.
Commissioner Fuller also said he will “come down heavy” on drug dealers who may be “roaming through the crowds at these types of events, handing out pills that could kill”.
Listen Out took place in Melbourne and Perth last weekend. Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault which took place at the Melbourne leg, but were generally “pleased” with crowd behaviour, despite a number of arrests.
