Phil Collins‘ 1981 hit ‘In the Air Tonight’ has reportedly received a massive uptick in sales over the weekend, presumably thanks to a recent viral video.
Last week, twin brothers Tim and Fred Williams shared a video of themselves reacting to the Face Value track on YouTube after listening for the first time. The duo are immediately intrigued by the instrumental and Collins’ croon.

});
However, the clip’s true magic lies, of course, in the pair’s reaction to the song’s iconic drum fill – which sees them absolutely lose it, replicating an experience so many have had when hearing it for the first time.
“I ain’t never seen nobody drop a beat three minutes into a song,” they declare.
You can watch the clip below if you’re yet to witness its joy.

Apparently, viewers were inspired by the clip to go back and listen to the song themselves. Per Rolling Stone, ‘In the Air Tonight’ saw an increase in sales of over 1,100% compared last Friday and Saturday compared with the previous two days.
According to Alpha Data, the track received over 4,600 digital sales in those two days – with sales from those two days exceeding almost the entire rest of the month prior combined.
Meanwhile, the clip of the Williams twins continues to reach audiences – it’s sitting at 3.4 million views at time of writing. For context, when we wrote about the video back on Monday, it had racked up a comparatively meagre 2.6 million.
