No matter where you are in the world right now, one thing is for certain – triple j’s Hottest 100 for 2020 is in full swing! The countdown has been in action for the better part of the day, and for all of you playing along at home, we’ve just hit the halfway point.
The pool parties are in full swing, the BBQ’s all fired up and the beers are well and truly flowing by now, but with 50 hot tunas still to be counted down, hopefully you’re taking things slow.

We’re about to head into the pointy end of the countdown, with the top 50 songs of 2020, as voted by triple j’s listeners, coming up over the next few hours. But before we dive into the numbers, let’s take a look at some of the stats and big moments of the countdown so far.
We know that a whopping 66 out of 100 entries this year have come from homegrown talent, which sees this year’s countdown neck and neck with 2016’s countdown for the most number of Aussie artists on show.
So far, we’ve seen 31 artists featured in the bottom 50, so we can expect to see another 35 in the top 50. How good’s that!

Long-standing triple j favourites, San Cisco, have just had their 10th track feature in a Hottest 100 countdown, with On The Line at #56. Their first was Awkward, which hit #7 on the countdown in 2011.
Two Like A Version’s have made appearances in the countdown, with G Flip‘s cover of Lady Marmalade in at #78 and Bugs‘ take on Mallrat‘s Charlie coming in at #91.
As posted by triple j yesterday, it’s going to be a bloody tight race, with only 350 votes separating #1 and #2.
According to Warm Tunas, the tight race as told by the good folks at triple j will be between Glass Animals and Ball Park Music.
Spacey Jane‘s Booster Seat is also a hot contender for the coveted #1 spot.
Joji has already featured three times with Gimme Love at #59, Run at #62 and Your Man at #98, while Billie Eilish tying for second charting twice with my future at #79 and No Time To Die at #90, and Hockey Dad clocking in with Germaphobe at #96 and Itch at #99.
