Triple J’s Hottest 100 Of 2020: Live Updates

It’s astounding that we somehow made it through the constant, plague-ridden hellfire that was 2020, but somehow we did. Even more amazing, a year of such tumult and chaos happened to produce some absolutely amazing music, from both Australia and the rest of the world.
And, as we reach the top end of another new year, it’s time for triple j to countdown the 100 best songs of the year that’s past, as voted by listeners all around the world.

The 2020 countdown has big shoes to fill, considering the history-making win of Billie Eilish and ‘bad guy’ on last year’s countdown. In addition, we’ve enjoyed the Hottest 100 of the Decade countdown in the past year, which saw Tame Impala take the win. Funnily enough, both acts are contenders in this year’s ranking.
People, including us, have been weighing in on who they think will take it out. We theorised it could go to Glass Animals, and 100 Warm Tunas (at the time of writing) predict the same thing. But, as 2020 so rudely taught us, nothing’s for certain and everything can be turned on its head without warning.
