Aussie hip-hop collective Triple One have shared latest single ‘Loverose’, the first to come from their forthcoming debut album.
It’s a sombre and reflective track that sees the Sydney-based group reflecting on personal sacrifice and the tentative nature of success. It comes accompanied by an atmospheric video directed by Tyson Perkins.
“Loverose is a song about the flawed nature of intimate love,” says vocalist Marty Bugatti. “Humans are an imperfect creation and also mortal. This makes love a lot harder, but also a lot more beautiful.”
The band’s Billy Gunns echoes his sentiments, explaining that ‘Loverose’ is about “being close to something that you’ve been wanting your whole life.”
Yet to be formally announced, Triple One’s debut full-length will follow a steady string of EPs and hit standalone singles from the group like ‘Butter’ and ‘So Easy’, their collaboration with Matt Corby and Kwame. This year has already seen them share a couple tracks, including fan favourite ‘Handyman’ and last month’s ‘Project Revenge’.
Earlier this month, Triple One member Lil Dijon appeared as part of the first triple j Like a Version after the series took a break due to the coronavirus pandemic. The rapper featured on ChillinIT’s cover of Brockhampton’s ‘SUGAR’ – you can check that out here.
